| | Okay - I don't get why people make fun of William Shatner. He's an amazing actor in the StarTrek series and the movies especially. I think the major reason I like Boston Legal is because of him. I don't get why people make fun of his acting. When I watch him on movies or on the TOS, it all looks so engaging and brilliant. Does anyone know why people don't like him ? Or make fun of him ? | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| I'm back online again. I've been swampe with work the last few months. Just yesterday, I got back into New Zealand after a few weeks working at Canberra. I can honestly say, that place is like the worst city on earth! The only good thing I've had there was the cheap pizzas. Well - paying 1/7th of what I pay in NZ for the same thing is quite interesting.
Anyway, the first thing today I did was go out with a friend of mine to a theater. He is a general manager there and told me if I came in early today, a few of the guys in our graduating class were having an early morning showing of a new movie : Shoot em Up . When we were in university we always had little gatherings like this - so it was fun.

The movie is AWESOME! I've not had this much fun watching an action movie since I saw Die Hard2 the first time. It's truely something for the guys, I think most women won't like it. I won't give the plot away. It's truely something to enjoy in the big screen. Those that are thinking they will download it - DO NOT. No matter even if it's the DVD - it simply is not beautiful enough on anything less than the big screen.
I thought we would be joking and making fun of the movie like we usually do, but once the opening five minutes were over, the only thing we did other than look at the screen gobsmacked is do high fives and awww's.
When it's out here a bit, I'm going to go back and watch it again. This would be the first time I've actually planned to go out and watch a movie I've seen on big screen twice. Even with good things I can recall the plot and the scene quite vividly for weeks so never needed to, but this is brilliant. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Okay , I've just spent a whole hour trying to remember ( and googling ), anything related to smut + hp + Christmas. There used to be a community in the HP world where you could find people doing smutty gifts to each other. I had it bookmarked , but I can't find it in my maze of bookmarks. I'm not even sure if it survived my purging of bad things off my laptop. I accessed the site atleast about 3 months ago.
Can anyone help ?
On another news : The whole of LJ is without any form of graphics for me. I'm too tired to check if it's just me or if they are partially down. :| | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| | Anyone do Beep Tests in school ? I just did it this morning with my brothers at a community sporting gathering. I can't honestly believe how unfit I am now. I used to be able to do 9.3 without much effort. Today I barely got to 7.0 . I missed the call twice, before being kicked off. :( I did come 3rd overall - but that really doesn't make me happy. I'm going to do evening jogs for 1/2 hour each day. There is no way I'm going to let myself keep going this way! | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| I was talking to one our executives in the office today, and found out the company is in talks with a few Business Process Optimisation specialists. In another words - people who specialise in cutting jobs. * is actively looking elsewhere * | comments: Leave a comment |
| Did anyone see the ORIGINAL MINISERIES MERLIN with Sam Neil ? Well - it is one of my favourite little things in DVD, and I just can't believe the most horrible thing I've seen todate is the sequel - with Sam Neil. I like his acting, and I can't help but grimace at this .... WTF!!! Was he under contractual obligation to make this bunch of crap ? Cause it realllllllly was bad. I've called the HP movie series bad before, but I will never call it such. I'll forever know that there is worst ways you can butcher a good thing.
The plots were thin - the acting was horrible - the reasoning was even worse. I think my old high school's yealy drama was of a better production value! UGG - Honestly - I can't believe they made this ....!!! It's so horrible.... I want to cry :( | comments: Leave a comment |
| Okay, I've been watching a few cartoons last few days on television. The likes of : Bratz , Trollz, Wings Club, w.i.t.c.h. and .... I forget the other one's name. !! All of these feature, either really vapid women, or barbie like women ! I'm all for pretty girls, but the ammount of them, and the topics they cover! Makeup, BFF, .... UGG .... I miss old cartoons. Where is Goofy! Where is Aladdin! Where is Kim Possible! Where in the world is Carmen SanDeiago ?
* sigh * I dunno, why suddently there is so many crappy cartoons at kids play hour. I recall loving every other cartoon that were on just five years ago. I sometimes wonder if it's simply alright now, more than before, to market a cartoon like these that cater to these younger girls that want to be " popular " . Maybe I got the whole thing wrong. * sigh * Definately need to talk to wifey about this. Maybe she can explain if there is merits in these cartoons, or if I'm being too weird about them.
I did see there is an ANIME network in USA now. I really want to know if someone has it in thier area. | comments: Leave a comment |

Since your accomplishments are seldom noticed, and you are rarely thought of, you are expendable. That doesn't mean your job isn't important but if you were in Star Trek you would be killed off in the first episode you appeared in.

| | Just saw the movie : Inside Man. I think the only other heist movies I've loved are Ocean's Eleven ( remake ), and Thomas Crown Affair. This is very cool. I've been on a binge a while now that all movies are crap - some of my closest friends enjoyed " Aeon Flux " - I happened to hate it.( Read more... ) | comments: Leave a comment |
| Found : Windows 3.11 - 11DISK setup!! Location1 : Inside a bag with rather interestingly 5 plates - the type you eat from. Location2 : My brothers house - Garage
My brother's Explanation : He was eating in his study, and forgot to clean the plates , and they sort of kept piling up. Then he didn't want to clean them - so put them in a bag, and stored them in the garage - away from his wife. I recall being at their house months ago, and her complaining that the dishes were disappearing.
heheh - my brother does the weirdest - and funniest antics! | comments: Leave a comment |

| I just picked up a Wireless ADSL router for $120. That is prolly about $70USD - It's 4 Port, and it came with a free desktop PC adaptor! I was thinking I would need to spend $150 - which what the cheapest thing I found on price comparison sites. 1 year warranty, and everything. It's a good one too - 3com.
yay for me! | comments: Leave a comment |
| I love office food. Especially the sandwitches that come around. and the danishes. The apple ones are nice, but the appricot ones are the best.
Anyone got an opinion on this ? | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Bon Echo is the codename for FireFox 2.0. So far, I'm not liking it. I think its a biased point of view - since I can't use any of my current extensions to make the software useful.
I made the mistake of installing the installer version. I should have had gone with the zip install, it would have had kept my previous version. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Britanny Murphy - Little Black Book - I really liked the movie. I'm quite surprised at how good of an actress she is. The movie you think will end in one direction, and really doesn't end that way.
Mandy Moore - A Walk to Remember - Saw it again. geeze - she is really good in this. Chasing Liberty was horrible, but this was a nice movie. I think I mentioned it before. Really loved it.
Looking forward to : V for Vendetta - Loved the graphic novel, so am looking forward to those.
UGGG JOB : Put up my CV up on some jobsites. I've also contacted a HR firm that I know a friend of mine works at, and hoping to get some introductions that way. * crossing fingers * I really am hating the ammount of time I'm working, and the pay I'm getting. It's really not worth the stress, I would rather go to lower position than be in the situation I'm in now, where I'm paid $1 more than the people I manage. I have to fill out many many paperworks, and evals and a lot of cruddy other jobs. Including do the job of two people :( I got irked today when I found some people have had raises this year, of 10%, where as I'm had mine increase only 2% - these people are doing the same jobs as me. :( * sigh * | comments: Leave a comment |
| Well - This is the second part in the saga of finding porn at work place. One enterprising programmer at work has been using a TOR client to bypass restrictions on content. I'm quite surprised how he managed to do that, since we though we were blocking it already. I'm investigating his computer for the modifications he made. ^.^ ;;; He got his computer infected with viruses + some reallly nasty spywares, and now I'm cleaning it up ( reimaging - takes about 15 minutes. )
I'm really surprised that people would download porn at work. I mean - not only can you get caught & fired, you get branded by it. You can't use your previous job as a reference in your CV. People are strange. I can understand needing porn. I can understand watching in the privacy of your home - god knows a teenaged boy's best friend used to be the family VCR - now for the affuent boy on the move, it's prolly their video ipod. But at work !!?!
So the question for you people : Have any of you done something at work, you weren't supposed to ? Ever think of taking your iporn to work ? Leave an anon message if you want.
I've got to get back to work now. | comments: 7 comments or Leave a comment |
| I'm in the unique position to do some benchmarks. This isn't something I've seen done in the mainstream media. The results I got - has me wickedsly stunned.
I used something called the Unix bench, a modified version of it that I got hold of. I've used this previous to catalog other hardware I've come across in the past.

I expected the Dual Core to be less than Dual Processor. I mean, the Dual Processor server has the added benefit of being a scsi system. It's also heavily optimised with running only the kernel modules required to run the system. So I ran it again with the stock Kernel. The values were predictably lower. Before this benchmark , I was on the fence really about whether I would be advocating to my bosses for the next hardware renewal cycle we go for Dual Core servers. Note - these results are part of my personal experiment at work. The official stuff will rely on the Sandra benchmarks with Windows 2003 64bit version. I'm expecting the benchmarks to get higher in difference. In every case before, it's been better. However, there is a grey area in this. I'm not sure how Windows being NUMA aware will affect the results. I am not certain totally if the SMP kernels are NUMA aware.

Sarahkitty - any ideas on the Kernels of Unix variants ?
So What does this mean to you my non geeky friends . Well, if you didn't know it already, AMD and INTEL have released ( a little while ago ), chips that are Dual Core. They are basically TWO chips in one. They are wicked fast, and AMD is the fastest of the LOT. The cheaper one is the faster one. It also uses less electricty while running. You'll save about $100 from the electricty savings alone! If you are considering getting a processor - consider going to AMD X2 range. While are the desktop versions of the dual core chipsets I tested. Note : These won't improve your gameplay much. However, if you run a AntiVirus scanner, or any other application in the background, you'll definately see increased smoothness in anything you do. | comments: 10 comments or Leave a comment |
| | While running through some of the logs, I found one user on the network at work has been watching porn. Erm.... Let me rephrase this. I think it's porn, but not reallllly porn. He downloads quite a few clips each day at lunch time. The images are of usually women - blowing up balloons and stuffing their chest. There is a few that aren't. There is also stuff in which women sign casts of broken leg / arm of each other! I'm not sure it's even against the company policy ! I've sent a private memo to someone in the HR. ^.^ I mean , proper porn I could understand. But this ..... is reallly weird. | comments: Leave a comment |
